What type of animation did you enjoy the most?
I enjoy the drawn animation more because i take into consent that they have spent effort and time drawing lots of pictures as well as the modern drawn animation are very detailed and are becoming more advanced and a lot better.
What are your strengths?
My strengths as an animator is using photoshop and sorting colours out.
What do i need to improve on?
I think i need to be more patient with the drawing aspect of the animation because it can take a long time to get each movement done, i also need to improve on my drawing skills as well as taking attention to detail.

Futurama
In this episode they go through a variety of animations, starting with a Steam Boat Willy animation, which shows how they know their history of animation, then they go into later animation such as Pokemon and Wreck it Ralph. They end it on a more modern take to animation by doing a type of anime, examples of this is like Yu-Gi-Oh.
The Simpsons
In this episode Burns is riding Gerty the dinosaur which was the first ever animation made in the 1960's, this shows that the animators know of the history of drawn animation and use intertexuality to refrence the history of animation into their drawn animation.

Drawn Animation || Flight of Dragons
What I did for my drawn animation?
I drew the character called Phineas whos famously known as the character from the kid series "Phineas & Ferb". I started of by finding sketches and pictures of the character and drew free hand the character onto a blank page. I then drew him over 10 times in different positions, for example: Standing, leg lifting, walking forward. This took repeptition as I was tracing back from my first character picture then changing him slightly to make a minimum amount of change within both pictures. I then started on the environment/background, this took some imagination to come up with a design. But when I got a creation I started to draw.
Once making both the character movement and the background I turned to how I was going to get this pictures onto the computer to be editted through Photoshop CS6, I decided to go with the scanning machine as it comes with great detail when transferring the sketch and does not have un-equal shading. After getting the pictures into CS6 I started on the colour scheme and ptching all the rough terrain on the background.
I then put all the character images in a sequence and when played at a certain seped the character is shown as moving which animates the model.
Overall I think I could have done the character models movement a lot better and concentrated on the detail of the movement and motion of the character.
Flight of Dragons
This animation was very important when it came out as it was shown as quite a well educated and intelligent programme, although it was made for children it had a sense of adult like narrative to the animation which was done to explain how chidlren are intelligent and well educated to understand narrative to that extent.

Claymation
Although it was easy it was time consuming which was an issue.

Pictures of the Clay Models
We took pictures of our clay models in different positions.
I did not know that taking the pictures were so time consuming due to the fact it took us around 45 minutes to actually take about 10-20 seconds each picture when put into final cut.
How ever when we editted the video and made the video clips shorted which made the video alot more animated.
I found it difficult to keep the camera still although it was on a tripod it still moved ever so slightly which moved the whole scene about, this was a big issue when we tried to move the models we would sometimes move teh camera and finding the right position it was in before turned out quite time consuming. However the other proble when we was taking the pictures was the lighting. We had taken the pictures in a confined dark area which was an issue as people would walk past and cast there shadows across the scene making us have to go back and retake the pictures.

Blackton Animation
Blackton
Blackton animation is where at each frame you draw an extra piece to the drawing and record every little bit you add, and then pause it whilst you are drawing, which makes the image look like its being drawn its self and makes the image look like its animated.
This is a very cool technique although it can take a long duration to actually collect the clips needed.
I have tried doing this animation and i found it incredible hard as if you do a mistake it makes the animation look out of place and distorted as well as it takes a long time to record, as we were only recording around 30 seconds of film it took us arround 40 minutes to actually create which wasvery slow.
